The pre-cast concrete blocks are designed for shielding of radiation producing devices found in modern radiation (x-ray) oncology departments and other industrial shielding needs. Blocks are pre-cast from different densities of concrete to achieve the specific design parameters for the specific location. The blocks are cast off-site using specially designed molds and have a protrusion along the top edge and down one end. The underside and opposite end are designed with a depression of similar geometry to provide a 4-way interlocking design. Special corner blocks are cast with an additional depression traversing the underside, which allows the block to sit ninety degrees to the block below. The result will be a fully interlocking system that engages all surrounding blocks, providing a completely freestanding, self-supporting room. The blocks are positioned along the walls and ceiling to form an interior space of sufficient size to house the x-ray equipment.
